We work hard to ensure that all orders are quickly dispatched, generally within 24-48 hours! However, some items such as decoders loaded with sound files may take longer to be processed. Please also allow extra time during public holidays, or when we are travelling for train exhibitions.
Orders are shipped via Australia Post, with electronic tracking provided for parcels and tracked letters.
We offer FREE LOCAL PICKUP up from Engadine (NSW) for local customers. Simply select “Local pickup” as the shipping method at the check out, and we will be in touch with you to arrange a time and provide our exact address.
Please note that our business hours are Monday – Friday, 9am-5pm.
Shipping Rates:
We aim to keep our retail prices low, hence shipping charges are added to orders and calculated at the checkout. Shipping rates start at $2 for our smallest decoders and accessories (sent via untracked letters), and $9.70 for small tracked parcels. Express shipping is also available Australia-wide.
INTERNATIONAL ORDERS: We offer shipping world-wide, via standard tracked post! Prices are calculated automatically at the checkout.
Returns & Refunds

Change of Mind:
Please ensure that you double check the contents of your shopping cart before confirming and paying for your order, as we do not offer refunds or exchanges for change of mind purchases or wrongly selected products. *However, if you do quickly contact us after noticing a mistake upon submitting your order, we may be able to amend it (if notified within the first few hours).
Damaged/Faulty Products:
Please ensure that you inspect your items upon receiving them, as any damaged or faulty goods should be returned to us within 30 days. If you have received a damaged or faulty item, please contact us first. Then ship it back to us, making sure that it is suitably packaged, as we will not accept responsibility for goods that are damaged whilst in transit.**
Upon receiving the item, we aim to check it as soon as possible and contact you in regard to the outcome within a week. If a fault is detected, and it is not due to wear and tear or misuse, we will either repair or replace the item and send it back to you. Refunds or exchanges are only available for damaged/faulty goods in the unlikely event that we cannot repair your item or offer a replacement.
**The cost incurred by a customer to return damaged/faulty goods is at their expense. Buckambool Model Trains will cover the cost of returning the item after it has been repaired or replaced. (This excludes items that have been damaged by customer use, such as locomotives being shipped to us for repair – in which case you will also be billed for the return postage cost)
