Description
The 21MTC breakout board w amplifier provides a handy way to access all outputs of 21MTC decoders for hardwire applications. Very similar to the ESU 51968 21MTC adaptor board.
This particular breakout board features an amplifier to allow the Aux 3 and 4 decoder outputs to be used as ‘amplified’ or regular function outputs (up to 1A), as these are normally logic level outputs. For example the LokSound 5 21MTC 58419 (European version) & 58429 (DCC US/AUS version) sound decoder features Aux 3 & 4 as logic level outputs. ZIMO sound and non-sound decoders feature a CV that can change Aux 3 & 4 between logic level and amplified outputs, rendering this particular breakout board un-needed for ZIMO decoders. This board would be helpful for the LaisDcc 21MTC standard and stay-alive decoders.
21MTC decoders typically feature up to 8 amplified outputs and at least 2 logic level un-amplified outputs, more than other decoder types. Use of the breakout board will allow access to all of these functions. This may be helpful for locomotives not equipped with a 21MTC socket.
Note: this product is designed for DC locomotives, it is not designed for locomotives already fitted with a 21MTC socket.
